Inedia: the alleged ability to live without food
Breatharianism: a related concept, in which believers claim food and possibly water are not necessary
Ok, there is a lot to say about these two diet ideas...i dont know where to start. I guess I can start by saying this is completely rediculous. People who belive this, think this will work becuase they can live on the energy of the sunlight....right.....In medical studies many people who have tried this have died...honestly is that really suprising. Its medically known and proven that people need food and water to live i dont know why the people who choose to do this think otherwise!
A famous Advocate of Breatharianism Ellen Greve (who, not by suprise, changed her name to Jasmuheen...no comment) claimed she could go for months and months drinking nothing but a cup of occasional tea and claimed her body ran on a different type of nurishment...
When 60 minutes came to inspect her house they found a ton of food but of course claimed it was just for her husband (husband?! who would put up with this). What 60 minutes did was put her in a nice hotel to show the world her methods. She failed on the first day becuase of the pollution of the air outside due to the heavy traffic. After all she does get 70% of her nutrients from the air....So 60 minutes put her in a mountain retreat and after 4 days the doctor urged her to stop saying kidney failure was sure to happen and was on the verge of dehydration.
The loon..oh i mean Jasmuheen, also claims her DNA was changed from 2 to 12 strands to "absorb more hydrogen". So 60 minutes let her stop then offered her $30,000 for a blood test to see if what she was claiming was real...she denied explaining she did not understand the relevance.

Another Blog For My Marketing Class "internet marketing laws and regulations"
So, my group was assigned to learn about internet marketing laws and regulations and make a presentation in class about it. We already did the presentation but we also have to post some information and links about the topic on our blog. As of now there really are no interenet marketing laws and regualtions but many organizations are trying to make them. Privacy is a huge issue when it comes to marketing online. Companies will pretty much do anything to get the information they need about their target market or about who is looking at their website, for how long, how many times and to see what other pages on their website they visited (this can be easily done by anyone, not just companies, through google analytics...in fact i have google analytics on my page right now). To share some information about privacy online and other marketing law and regualtion facts I found some useful pages. Click on the links below and enjoy :)

Its obvious crazy diets dont work...but this does....
1)Choosing to change: From the inside out.
2)Education: What you dont know can hurt you.
3)Getting Started: The pain of discipline vs. the pain of regret.
4)Preparation: Setting and achieving realistic goals.
5)Making the right choices: You make a choice and it then makes you.
6)Prioritizing your life: First things first.
7)Lasting changes: Maintaining your results

Sacred Heart Chapel Post
This post is for my class......
Assignment: How would you improve this SHU Chapel site given the format limitations?
For anyone reading who wants to view the website click here.
So, to imrove the chapel website I would completely change the format. I think the top center should be the picture of what it will look like with a quote directly underneath it. The links should be placed centered going down with pictures of construction on the side and it should definatly be wider. They have to have a huge grey borders that are not necessary. In general the site itsnt that bad considering it has to abide by the school template but if it did not have to do that it would look A LOT better......

Biggest Loser Season Winner- Ali
This is Ali before.......
This is Ali after.....
Throughout her journey on the show, Ali lost 112 lbs. These contestants did not starve themselves, they were taught how to eat right and work out hard. This is how someone should really diet. It is unrealistic to say you cant go out to eat or there are no healthy alternatives to snacks, you just have to choose the right ones. For instance if you like popcorn, there are now 100 calorie packs of popcorn which taste just as good as the real thing. So learn from Ali and the other biggest loser contestants, dont let diets ruin your life! Eat well and workout and you will see results. Here are before and after photos of some other contestents.....

And after........

Vquzeshuf....these changes are amazing...ill show you more next post from this season that just ended and previous seasons as well!

I'm going to now post a diet ad at every post for your enjoyment :)

This week I found a quote from wikipedia that I though explained what a diet fad exactly was and here is it "A fad diet is believed by its practitioners to improve health. It is often promoted by parties that publish books about the diet, or sell specialized ingredients or supplements that are part of the diet, despite being unconfirmed by legitimate scientific studies. A fad diet may do nothing at all, or even have an adverse result if it is nutritionally unbalanced or otherwise unhealthy. Weight loss experts such as Richard Simmons, who tried numerous diets in his youth at the cost of his health, strongly discourages them as not only unhealthy, but also counter-
productive in the long term." For more helpful imformation read the whole article here.

I just googled that word VQUZESHUF, and only one blog is showing up. So i figured i would say VQUZESHUF a few times in my blog to see if it shows up. I think its wierd becuase everyone in my class has this word somewhere in there blog but only one is showing. I wonder how google searches the word to leave the others out.VQUZESHUF.
This week i thought it would be nice to explain myths that you may of heard that makes you fat. First off, eventhough i thought this was true, eating after 7pm will not make you fat. Health professionals claim that the reason people eat at night and may gain weight is becuase they skip meals during the day and therefore their metabolism slows down. So if you need that late night snack go ahead eat it, but as long as youve eaten ur three meals that day. Another one is that its OKAY to treat yourself once a week. Treating yourself to something you want once a week is healthy and a good idea when dieting. If that treat turns into a splurge, do not starve yourself the next day. People may thing that skipping breakfast the next day will make it "even", but that is the worst thing you could do. So if you do a little more than treat yourself one day, get back on track the next. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, have a breakfast a light lunch then a healthy dinner.

When dieting, many people will look around for "low fat" or "fat free" foods, but is this really an effective way to diet? It has been found that there is no corolation between the relationship between fat calories eaten and fat tissue on a person’s body. The truth is that ANY type of calorie can be converted into fat. For example, sugar is a fat free food if you eat a lot of it, you will gain weight. So don't let the fat free or low fat foods trick you. Keep that in mind next time you attemp a crazy, noneffective diet fad : )

This week I am going to steer clear from adult crazy fads and disorders but rather discuss children and some of the redic pressures they face to become thin. There have been so many studies about Moms and the relationship they have with their children and how influencial children can be. According to www.webmd.com, girls were also more likely to diet if their moms had done so in the past year and it also showed som interest in the boys who stated 8% of the boys wanted to be bigger in muscle size, which is 8% too many. Children need to focus on being a child and its crazy how young these diet fads are starting. If their weight is a health issue that is different but if a child wants to be thin becuase of their mom or the media that is just wrong. And it gets worse as the teenage years progress, stating that A recent review of adolescents indicated that 41% to 66% of teenage girls and 20% to 31% of teenage boys have attempted weight loss at some time in the past. This culture has become too obsessed with weight when it comes to the already thin, adolecent and teenage girls.

I thought this week i would mainly talk about weight loss shows and a new show that PROMISES you can eat whatever you want and still lose weight....hmm.....the host claims hes going to talk to us through the TV and teach everyone eating haits that will change their life forever. The host, Paul Mckenna claims to have helped royalty and celebs lose weight, and I think the best part of the show is that hes a hypnotist...come on is this really going to be a show? he's going to hypnotize the audience through the TV? when this thing airs i will clearly be doing a blog about it and hopefully it isnt going to be as redic as it sounds. Since it has not aired yet i do not have too much info about it but trust me when i find out, you will too.
Another weight loss show is called "The Biggest Loser". This happens to honestly be one of my fav shows and the change these people have is insane. The people on the show basically eat healthy and work out a LOT and the results are great. This ties into the whole crazy diets fads because if people can just see how much weight you can lose with a healthy diet and exercise they should not be doing the hot dog diet or Gods diet, they should be eating healthy and getting up off the couch.
Now to the crazy fads....there is a diet out there called the cookie diet that woman swear on. Here is a quote from NBC that explains how the whole thing works "Most participants lose between 12 and 15 pounds per month on the cookie diet, eating six cookies during the daytime and then a dinner of six ounces of protein and two cups of vegetables." Woman admit its hard at first having to give up their favorite foods, but in the words of a participant, "nothing tastes better than thin". I guess this diet could work but youre very restricted on life. You should be able to eat what you want in life in portions and with working out. All these diets seem like they dont let you live and would never work for me. When i get out of college i will be going on a diet and working out but i will refuse to cut out everything i love. Balance is the key to weight loss.

So, this week there will of course be more rediculous diets but I also want to talk about the 7 ways to spot a weight loss scam. There are so many pills and diets that promise magical weight loss fast, but how do you know what will work and what wont? Here are some helpful hits! (information from HERE)
(1) Promises of fast, permanent or easy (usually it is all of the above) weight loss
(2)Lacks scientific evidence to support claims, instead relying on glowing testimonials
(3)Claims you can lose weight without exercising or making dietary modifications.
(4)Claims to remove fat from certain areas of your body (can you say “thigh master?”)
(5)Uses terms such as “miracle”, “scientific breakthrough”, “secret formula” and “revolutionary” to describe their product.
(6)Claims that there is a singular compound/factor is keeping you from losing weight (inevitably, they are selling something that will rectify the culprit). Read: Cortisol-reducers, HGH enhancers etc.
(7) STAY AWAY FROM INFOMERCIALS
Hope some of those hints were helpful :) Now on to some more crazyyyy diets fads
(1) The "ruin your food diet"- Basically how is works in take a couple of bites of food then drench the rest with hot sauce, dish destergent, or salt on the rest of your food....i dont know about you but if i was starving and drenched my food with any of those rediculous suggestions I would just go into the fridge and get something else....
(2) The bagel diet- Eat bagels and water (THATS IT) until the weight u want lost is gone
(3) The burrito diet- Eat a burrito everyday! oh, as long as you eat nothing else
(4) Lemonade diet- Last only two weeks and your supposed to watch the weight pour off. All you have to do is drink a mixture of lemonade, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper....yummmm.....and make sure thats all you have to eat, no solids, no regualr lemonade.. just that disgusting mix.
So I hope you enjoyed another week of crazy fads...come back next week for a new topic discussion and of course moreeee diets that you should never try :)

So as promised another weekly post....
this week i'm going to introduce to you a popular diet trend that a lot of college girls will follow (and most of us college girls are guilty of this). Someone who follows this diet is called a "Drunkerexic". This diet consists of skipping meals so you can drink more later. Mostly girls will skip breakfast, have a light lunch, and then skip dinner. Since alcohol has a TON of calories and carbs, girls will feel guilty about consuming all those calories and will get drunker faster if on an empty stomach. This is not a safe way about "dieting" it's almost being anorexic but you can have one meal a day and drink what you please at night.
anyway lets see what other crazy diets i found online....
(1) Diet Patches- Def. not as effective as nicotine patches. The whole concept of this "watch the pounds fall off" no matter what you eat is pretty crazy. People who buy into this idea of a weight loss strategy are out of their minds. I think this is prob the worst diet I have seen yet. And they claim you will see results in 3 days...right
(2) Eggplant Extract Diet- Take two "fatfoe" pills a day and watch the weight fall off...and you can eat fried chicken, pizza, all the desert you want and you dont have to exercise....hmmm something doesnt sound right. These pills must be magic
(3) Tart Diet- Eat as much as you want as long as its Drinking a mix of maple syrup, lemon juice, water and cayenne pepper.....gross
(4) Cardio Free Diet- Hate cardio? or any workout for that matter? than this diet is perfect for you because it claims cardio is bad for your health...who knew?
So thats enough crazy diets for the week....I should have mentioned in the beginning of my blog that I am doing this for my internet marketing class that I attend at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. As a part of this blog we have to post websites about topics we were assinged and my topic is Internet Marketing Legal Issues...so if your interested click here to learn more :)

This blog is going to be dedicated to the popular trend of diet fads. In a weight-obsessed society, people will do anything to be thin. Diet fads simply do not work, but that does not stop the popularity of them. Diets such as "God's Diet", the hollywood diet, the cabbage soup diet, the raw-food only diet, and the blood type diet are just an easy way out for people. They might loose weight in the short term, but there is an overwehlming chance that they will put that weight back on. The one and only way to loose wieght is to eat healthy and exercise, not depend on these fads. I will go into detail now about some of the diets I just listed, and you will see for yourself that it's just not sensible.
1) God's Diet- A plan that allows you to only eat things God created...bread, pasta, and alcohol are discouraged whereas seeds, fruit and fish are encouraged. This fad isn't the worst but I could never follow it, its not realistic
2) Hollywood Diet- A 48 hour diet that does not allow you to eat food. The "special" drink of fruites and enzymes is the only think you are allowed to consume in that 48 hours, promising a 10 pound weight loss (and then once you eat a solid food again i'm sure you gain it all back).
3) The Cabbage Soup Diet- A 7 day diet promising you can loose 10 pounds...if all you eat is cabbage soup. The diet is not ideal for everyone's busy life and people surveyed who were on this diet reported feeling light-headed, weak, and have suffered from decreased concentration. Doesn't sound worth it to me.
4) The Raw Food Only Diet- No meat is allowed on this diet and you are restricted to only eat foods that are unprocessed and uncooked plant foods (such as fresh fruit and vegetables, sprouts, seeds, nuts, grains, beans, nuts, dried fruit, and seaweed)
5) Blood Type Diet- A strict diet that is different for every blood type. Excerise suggestions are also given for each specific blood type. Sounds like a fad that doesnt work.
Anyway, each week I will be posting some new diet fads and next week I will concentrate on a fad many college woman follow to aviod gaining unwanted weight. Go to this website for tips on how to live a healthy life style: http://exercise.about.com/od/healthinjuries/a/healthylifestyl.htm
